The microbiome and genomics lab focuses on four main areas of research: 

 

Most of these areas are interconnected, and we explore the dynamics of plant Genotype-Environment-Microbe-Interactome (GEMI). ​Some of the key ongoing projects: 

  1. Plant and microbial interactions to sequester CO2 during climate change conditions

  2. Plant’s nutrient uptake and soil biogeochemical cycling 

  3. Plant and beneficial microbes gene editing for improved abiotic stress tolerance

  4. Microbiome diversity and function in hypoxic conditions in the plant’s rhizosphere
