Chloroplast is the major distinguishing organelle of plant cell, which has been known to be originated from cyanobacteria through endosymbiosis. The main role and function of chloroplast is to perform photosynthesis, making the building block for rest of mechanisms of plant growth and development. Besides that, chloroplasts also participate in the biosynthesis of starch, fatty acids, pigments and amino acids.
