Microbiome Structure and Functions in Extremophilic Plants

Key personal: Abdul Latif Khan, Tovar, Andrea R

The main goal is to isolate and develop a personalized core microbiome for growing plants on marginal lands of coastal beaches of Texas. We also aim to (i) elucidate and isolate the phytomicrobiome of plants growing in extreme environments (arid land, deserts, hypophiles, gypsophiles); (ii) characterize stress-competent core-microbiome and their interactions with plants, (iii) identify the biosynthetic pathways for silicon transport and its acquisition.
